Other accommodation near Midhurst

Midhurst, which is considered to be a market town and a civil parish in the Chichester district, is located in West Sussex, which is in England. Midhurst has a population of about 5,000 people, which makes it into a more appropriate place to take a vacation in - it is less crowded, it resembles a small village, etc.

Midhurst is located near the Rother river, and is famous for being the place where the Tudor Cowdray house resided in - now it's in ruins, but you can still visit it and get a history lesson about the life in these parts, back in the day.

While in Midhurst you might also want to take your family and friends to the Victorian styled Cowdray Park, which is a country house that is located at the centre of the Cowdray estate, near the Eastbourne village in West Sussex. The Cowdray Park spreads over 16,500 acres of land, which is roughly 67 square kilometres.

During your visit to this ancient house you will be able to also visit the Cowdray ruins, which are the ruins of what used to be a home for the Montague family. The house was built around 1542 but was mostly destroyed in a fire during 1793. After renovations the house and the surrounding areas are now open to the visiting public.

While in Midhurst you can enjoy the annual Veuve Clicqout Gold Cup, which is a major polo competition, which you can observe or participate in. It is held at the estate of Lord Cowdray, and the final match is played with the ruins of the Montague house in the background. Many members of the British royal family often visit the location and partake in the activities. Midhurst is famous for being the spot in which Pink Floyd played in for charity during 1993 - without Waters.

If you are worried about the travelling options, you needn't worry - you have multiple options which you can use, which includes the railway and the train stations in the area. Midhurst is linked to various locations in the area vie three main lines, which have been operating for more than a century now.

Midhurst is also connected to several major roads - which include the A272 and the A286, which reach other parts in the area, which makes Midhurst ideal for the person that wants to take advantage of his or her vacation time, or for the person who is on a business trip.

Other transportations options include going via the air, by using the Gatwick or the Heathrow airports which are nearby - just one hour's drive. Also since Midhurst is a small place, you can rent a house or stay at an inn, which is located close to many of the attractions in the town, and you can just walk from place to place, which will help you maintain your health and physique - even while you're on vacation.

Also while walking around in Midhurst you will be able to better observe the local architecture, which resembles country houses.
