The beautiful town of Crianlarich is in the county of Sterling in Scotland. Anybody familiar with Scotland in general and Sterling in particular knows that some of the most gorgeous locales on the face of the earth are contained within. This can actually be a detrimental thing, however, because many of the gorgeous towns in Scotland have to compete with the other equally gorgeous towns and getting a leg up on the competition sometimes just can't be done. Luckily, Crianlarich sets itself apart from the pack not just for its beauty but for its vast importance in the history of Scotland.
Crianlarich has been a significant and vital part of Scotland for countless centuries as a crossing point for travelers. During the Medieval days sojourners would stay in Crianlarich and rest their weary bones. Many loved the area so much that they decided to never leave Crianlarich and within a little while the former crossing point became a full fledged town that people would go to and not just go through. Interestingly enough, though, it wouldn't be the last time that Crianlarich found itself as something of a crossing point throughout its history.
In the 1800s the Industrial Revolution swept throughout the world and it arguably affected the United Kingdom more than any other location. With the revolution came the railways and in a few short decades every developed nation saw rail road tracks spring up all over. Crianlarich was no exception and the town soon saw its own railway. The line was the West Highland line and Crianlarich was seen as, a stopping point! This bit of irony must have stung a bit but many people who used Crianlarich as a junction to hop onto other trains no doubt must have seen the beauty of the town and decided to settle down there. A mere hundred years later Crianlarich again saw itself embroiled within the connotation of being a junction when the town was the site of a meeting point of not railroads but motorways. The A85 and A82 roads both converged right at Crianlarich and the town remained a great place to stay a night before embarking on the rest of the journey.
Whether or not Crianlarich will ever assert its immense beauty and claim the right to be more than just a crossing point town remains to be seen but anybody who would stop in Crianlarich and not marvel at its gorgeous appearance. Crianlarich is a lush, beautiful slice of earth that deserves recognition for all of its merits and even if it gets pigeonholed as a stopover one must remember that Crianlarich would be vital even then for being the gateway through which all of Scotland passes through. Perhaps there is a reason why the town doesn't bother with trying to carve out its identity. Maybe this is the town's true identity. If that is the case, one can certainly think of far worse things than being a temporary home to the entire nation of Scotland.
