At a mere sixteen miles from Newcastle and four short miles from the town of Hexham, Corbridge is perfectly situated amid a charming conurbation full of fun and excitement. Each of the three towns that make up this area have their particular strengths that, when formed together, make for the perfect life in the perfect region. Newcastle is a busy, bustling city that is full of night life, entertainment venues, and all the cultural amenities one can only truly get from a big city. Major events are scheduled and performed in Newcastle that make it an immediate and necessary factor in the daily workings of England. Hexham is an interesting working town that has been known for its trade and commerce for centuries. It was once home to a prominent leather manufacturing industry and much of the surrounding area has been built from this city's trade. It is Corbridge, however, that offers the real pleasure and thrills. It may not have the size of Newcastle or the blue collar vibe of Hexham but it has some of the most unique and fascinating history ever seen in a town.

The people in Corbridge have always played to the beat of their own drum and, having been around since the days of the Roman Empire in the first century A.D., they have had a lot of time to beat that drum. The Stagshaw Bank Fair is the perfect example of this mindset. Every year on the Fourth of July Corbridge would hold one of the most famous country fairs in the United Kingdom. This event has long since died out but in its prime it would be proclaimed by the bailiff to the Duke of Northumberland. Though this historic event no longer occurs, the county rightly pays homage to it by holding the Northumberland County Show. It is here that the people of the area celebrate agriculture while still acknowledging their forefathers.

These days Corbridge is still a unique and exciting town that offers its own brand of fun which simultaneously tops and sets itself apart from the other towns in its vicinity. The Fast Lane Show which occurs every year in Corbridge would have no doubt thrilled the ancient fans of the Stagshaw Bank Fair. The event is essentially a massive showcase of the fastest and most stunning supercars from all around the world. Corbridge also holds an annual event of similar tastes: The Corbridge Steam Fair and Vintage Rally. This event is a no-holds-barred celebration of steam engines and, in addition, many classic cars and trucks are put on display for the show. The Fair is typically held in June and it attracts an increasingly large amount of people with each subsequent year. These people are no doubt drawn to the fact that Corbridge delivers a rare blend of fun and amusement that is different from the typical activities offered by most other cities. Time will tell if Corbridge will someday be enveloped in the constantly growing city of Newcastle but here's hoping that, no matter what happens, Corbridge will always maintain this singular and wonderful identity.
