Other accommodation near Coleraine

Northern Ireland, for all of its troubles (no pun intended) is home to some of the most gorgeous scenery on the face of the planet. Nearly everywhere you look in this hallowed nation there is something to catch the eye and marvel at. County Londonderry often is considered to be the epicenter of this beauty and it is in this lovely area that we find the equally beautiful town of Coleraine. With a population of nearly twenty five thousand people, Coleraine is also a full fledged burg in every sense of the word. The population is just high enough to allow Coleraine to have all the amenities of a real town such as night life and plenty of amusing activities and culture but the population is also just low enough to ensure that Coleraine doesn't fall prey to overdeveloping or the loss of its pristine natural features.

Coleraine is also quite near some of the most important towns in Northern Ireland. Belfast is a mere fifty five miles or so away from Coleraine and Derry is even closer at thirty five miles away. The famed Derry Airport is only twenty five miles away and thus Coleraine is perfectly situated for anybody who commutes to the big city to work. The crime in Coleraine is also very low compared to those two large cities and this makes Colraine a wonderful place to raise a family. In addition, the people of Coleraine have among the highest levels of disposable income which means that fun can be had in spades in this exciting city.

Unfortunately, Coleraine's past isn't all sunshine and rainbows. After all, the town is located in Northern Ireland and few nations have had to deal with as much strife and warfare than this location. The troubles are often the first thing people think of when they think of Northern Ireland and this is apt because the troubles are among the most horrific instances of violence in the history of mankind. Essentially the Troubles were the attacks made by the Irish Republican Army against protestants and vice versa. These battles often came in the form of car bombs and from the 1970s to the 1980s. Coleraine didn't suffer as much as other parts of Northern Ireland but there were thirteen people killed in the town. By all accounts Coleraine suffered greatly during this time but the town today has moved on beautifully. Instead of dwelling on the misery and pain Coleraine embraced it and became stronger for it. If only every city were as forward-thinking as the kind folks that call Coleraine home.
