Other accommodation near Bangor

Bangor that is a city in Gwynedd that is located in Wales, is one of the smallest cities in the entire area of Britain, due to it having a population of less than 15,000. Bangor is considered a university city, and is made up of a lot of students going to learn there.

Bangor has been populated - or at least part of the area it now stands on, as soon as the 6th century AD.

The city got its name from a Welsh word that meant "fenced-in enclosure" - which was used to describe the area back in the day, when a cathedral stood there.

Bangor is famous for having one of the oldest bishopric in the entire area of Britain. Also Bangor alleges to have the longest High Street in the entire area of Wales.

Bangor has a rich history which includes the establishing of a free grammar school here back in 1557, and a university simply called Bangor University, that was established as early as the year 1884.

Bangor is situated in the north on the coast in Wales, and is near Menai Strait, which is a short piece of shallow water that separates Bangor from Anglesey. While in Bangor you can visit the famous Bangor mountain, which is a scarp of a hill which Bangor is situated on. You can take a stroll on it and enjoy the green scenery, since Bangor is located near many trees - in a somewhat wooded area.

Bangor mountain offers vacationers a nice view of the city from atop it's summit, making it an ideal place for people who want to take in all of the architecture of the city at once, or for people that want to quickly find local points of attraction that suit their tastes.

While in Bangor you can also visit the Maesgeirchen housing estate, which was originally constructed to serve as a building for the local council.

While strolling along in Bangor you can visit the two rivers that run through it - the Adda river, and the Cegin river, which enters the port of Penrhyn to the east of the city.

Despite the small size of the city, it has a lot of different colleges, universities, secondary schools, primary schools, schools for infants and independent schools, which is why people refer to it as a university town. Also partly due to the large amount of students visiting it from the outside.

While visiting Bangor, if you are interested in enjoying the local culture you can visit the Powis hall or the Prichard-Jones hall, which offer concerts on a regular basis - mainly of classical music, making Bangor considered a classical music centre. You can also visit the local Gwynedd Museum and Art Gallery and enjoy the local culture the city has to offer.

The city also offers various nightclubs and restaurants for the people who just want to relax and enjoy themselves, while taking a break from the grinding routine of daily life. You can also visit the bars during the night, which sometimes are part of a restaurant, meaning you can eat and dine leisurely, and enjoy your time.
