Abergavenny that is located in Monmouthshire is Y Fenni in the Welsh language, and it means the mouth of the river Gavenny. Abergavenny is considered to be a market town in Wales and is close to Monmouth and can be reached via the A40 and A465 roads, and is very close to the English border. Abergavenny is located in the place of confluence of the Gavenny river as well as the Usk river, and is surrounded by mountains for most of its sides.
While in Abergavenny you might want to enjoy the local sporting events, and you can watch the Abergavenny Thursdays F.C. which were formed during the year 1927 and are nowadays members of the Gwent County League and it plays in the third division, and were known as one of the top sides in Welsh football - they won the Welsh Football League back in 1991 as well as 1992 but suffered from relegations which caused it to slip down to its current position, but it is slowly recuperating.
